WATER FROM YOUR EYES BARLEY

New York experimental duo Water From Your Eyes release new single 'Barley' and announce their forthcoming album Everyone's Crushed. Comprised of multi-instrumentalists Rachel Brown and Nate Amos, Water From Your Eyes have made a name for themselves for merging wildly disparate sounds and influences to create a truly unique brand of pop music, new track 'Barley' is an erratic and energetic dance track constructed from pulsating bass lines, effected samples, warped guitar lines and Brown's acerbic surreal lyricism. In a statement the band describe the track and its inspiration and the accompanying video directed by Brown: “‘Barley’ is a rhythmic sound collage experiment drawing from modern classical, classic rock, and dance music. The lyrics suggest repeated futile attempts at attaining the unattainable and allude to Sting and Sonic Youth. The video mirrors these concepts in scope, texture, and variety – juxtaposing feelings of entrapment and late stage capitalism against the sense of freedom inherent to the vast American landscape. Despite all this heady bullshit the song is, at its core, fun.” Everyone's Crushed is set for release on the 26th of May on Matador Records. -Toby Evans-Jesra
